Nurse’s Song
William Blake
When the voice of children are heard on the green
Add whisperings are in the dale.
The days of my youth rise fresh in my mind.
My face turns green and pale.
Then come home, my children, the sun is gone down
And the dews of night arise
Your spring and your day are wasted in play
And your winter and night in disguise.
যখন সবুজের মাঝে ভেসে আসে শিশুদের কোলাহল
আর উপত্যকায় কূজন,
আমার মনে সতেজ হয়ে যৌবনের দিনগুলো
সবুজ আর বিবর্ণ হয়ে যায় আমার মুখ।
এখন ঘরে এসো বাছারা, সূর্য ডুবছে
রাতের শিশিরগুলো জেগে উঠছে
খেলাধূরায় নষ্ট হয় তোমাদের বসন্ত দিনগুলো
আর শীত ও রাতগুলো ছদ্মবেশে।
The Theme : The pure innocence of the children is depicted well in the poem. The children are represented here as the symbol of innocence and purity and they are altogether free from any sort of anxiety. The pure and simple children live a carefree life of joy and merry-making.
