Infant Joy
William Blake (1757 – 1827)
I have no name
I am but two days old,-
What shall I call thee?
I happy am
Joy is my name,-
Sweet joy befall thee!
Pretty joy!
Sweet joy but two days old,
Sweet joy I call thee;
Thou dost smile.
I sing the while
Sweet joy befall thee.
আমার কোনো নাম নেই;
আমি কেবল দুদিন বয়সী,-
আমি তোমায় কী নামে ডাকব?
আমি সুখী
আমার নাম আনন্দ
মধুর পরমানন্দ তোমার ওপর বর্ষিত হোক!
চমৎকার আনন্দ,
অমায়িক আনন্দ, কেবল দুদিন বয়সী!
মধুর আনন্দ আমি তোমায় ডাকি;
আর তুমি হাস,
তখন আমি যাই,
মধুর পরমানন্দ তোমার ওপর বর্ষিত হোক!
The Theme : The poem deals with the theme of 'continuity of generations'. The poem suggests that giving birth is a joyful aspect of motherhood that represents the fruitfulness of life. The child represents the continuity of human life. The mother is very happy to be the mother of the child and the child is happy to be born.
(কবি কখনো ”প্রজন্মের প্রবাহমানতা” কে মূল বিষয়বস্তু হিসিবে ধারণ করেছেন। কবি তুলে ধরেছেন যে সন্তান জন্ম দেয়া মাতৃত্বের এক আনন্দঘন অনুষঙ্গ যা জীবনের ফলপ্রসুতাকে উপস্থাপন করে। শিশু মানব জীবনের চলমানতা বা প্রবহমানতাকেই তুলে ধরে। কোন শিশুর মা হতে পেরে মা যেমন খুশি তেমনি জন্মলাভ করতে পেরে ঐ শিশুটিও আনন্দিত।)
