A Thought went up my mind to-day

A thought went up my mind to-day
That I have had before,
But did not finish, -some way back.
I could not fix the year,
Nor where it went, nor why it came
The second time to me,
Nor definitely what it was,
Have I the art to say.
But somewhere in my soul, I know
I’ve met the thing before;
It just reminded me-‘t was all-
And came my way no more.
আজ আমার মনে এক ভাবনা জাগল
যা আগেও ছিল,
কিন্তু ফুরোয়নি, বহুকাল আগে,
আমি ঠিক মনে করতে পারছি না,
কোথায় যায়নি, কেন এলনা,
আমার কাছে দ্বিতীয়বার,
স্পষ্টত, কী ছিল,
আমার কী বলার নৈপুণ্য আছে।
কিন্তু কোথাও, আমার মনে, আমি জানি
আমি তাকে দেখেছিলাম আগে;
আমাকে মনে করিয়ে দিল, সর্বস্ব ছিল,
আমার পথে আর এলনা।
The Them : In the poem the poet constantly explores the peculiar working of the human mind. The thought is frequent in her mind. She does not bother about any precise expression of the thought. She gives emphasis the coming and disappearing of an old thought. The poet means to say that an unfinished thought can suddenly reappear in the mind without any provocation and without any effort to remember or call it. So, I think the theme of the poem can be the mysterious working of the human mind.
(কবিতায় কবি মানুষের মনের অদ্ভুত কর্মকাণ্ড অবিরত অন্বেষণ করেন। এ চিন্তা সর্বদা তার মনে বিরাজ করে। তিনি চিন্তার সঠিক অভিব্যক্তির ব্যাপারে উদ্বিগ্ন নন। তিনি আগেকার কোন চিন্তার আগমন বা প্রস্থানের উপর গুরুত্ব দেন। কবি বোঝাতে চান যে কোন প্ররোচনা এবং মনে করার বা ফিরে পাবার কোন চেষ্টা ছাড়াই অসমাপ্ত চিন্তা হঠাৎ মনে উঁকি দেয়। তাই আমার মনে হয় মানবমনের রহস্যময় কার্যকলাপই এ কবিতার বিষয়বস্তু।)
