Main idea : Human life is full of work and activities. Life of inaction gets immobile like an unrolling stone studded with moss.
Amplification : Human life rests on the zest of labour. It is labour that sustains a man. Broadly speaking, human life means 'to labour'. In fact, labour keeps a man away from decay and destruction. On the other hand, rest or inertia hastens man's doom. If life is spent on inactivity, it loses its charm and interest. In fact, workless life is like a rusty sword. If the sword is kept in the scabbard unused, it loses brightness and rust demolishes its sharpness. The rusty weapon cannot be used in times of necessity. Motionless life is akin to death. This sort of life meets failure and frustration. The potentiality of an inactive life can't be flourished rather its inherent faculties are lost. It is very boring for human life to pause in its mission. Workless life is dull and insipid like the unfurnished iron. It is action that survives life. To breathe is not the mission of life. It has tremendous implications. Life will be pregnant with deeper meanings if it is spent in activity. Life becomes suggestive and prolific if it is spent in action.

মূলভাব : মানবজীবন কর্ম ও কর্মশীলতায় পূর্ণ। কর্মতৎপরতাহীন জীবন শ্যাওলা দ্বারা বিকীর্ণ একটি স্থির পাথরের ন্যায় স্থবিরতা লাভ করে।
ভাবসম্প্রসারণ : মানবজীবন শ্রমের আগ্রহের ওপর নির্ভরশীল। শ্রমই একজন মানুষকে পোষণ করে। সাধারণভাবে বলতে গেলে, মানবজীবনের অর্থ পরিশ্রম করা। প্রকৃতপক্ষে, শ্রম একজন মানুষকে ক্ষয় ও ধ্বংস থেকে দূরে রাখে। অপরপক্ষে, বিশ্রাম অথবা জড়তা মানুষের নিয়তিকে ত্বরান্বিত করে। যদি জীবন নিষ্ক্রিয়তায় কাটানো হয়, তাহলে এটি এর আকর্ষণ ও আগ্রহ হারিয়ে ফেলে। বস্তুত কর্মহীন জীবন একটি মরচে ধরা তরবারির মতো। যদি তরবারিটি অব্যবহৃত অবস্থায় খাপের মধ্যে রাখা হয়, তাহলে এটি এর উজ্জ্বলতা হারিয়ে ফেলে এবং মরিচা এর তীক্ষ্ণতা ধ্বংস করে ফেলে। মরিচা ধরা অস্ত্র প্রয়োজনের সময় ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে না। গতিহীন জীবন মৃতের সদৃশ। এই ধরনের জীবন ব্যর্থতা ও নৈরাশ্যের সম্মুখীন হয়। নিষ্ক্রিয় জীবনের সম্ভাবনা সমৃদ্ধি লাভ করতে পারে না বরং এর স্বাভাবিক কার্যক্ষমতা হারিয়ে যায়। এর বিশেষকার্যে বিরতি মানবজীবনের জন্য এটি বড়ো বিরক্তিকর। কর্মহীন জীবন অসজ্জিত লৌহের মতো বিষম ও নিষ্প্রভ। কর্মই মানুষকে বাঁচিয়ে রাখে। জীবিত থাকাই জীবনের উদ্দেশ্য নয়। এর বিস্ময়কর উপলক্ষ্য আছে। জীবন গভীরতর অর্থ দ্বারা তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ হবে যদি এটি কর্মশীলতায় ব্যয়িত হয়। জীবন ইঙ্গিতপূর্ণ ও ফলপ্রসূ হয় যদি এটি কর্মসম্পাদনের মধ্য দিয়ে ব্যয় করা হয়।

Moss gathers on a stone that is stationary, but not on one that is always on the move. Similarly, persons who are always changing from one occupation to another can never prosper. Very soon they lose the power of serious application in anything.
On the contrary, a person who sticks to one thing in spite of initial difficulties is sure to succeed in the end. He may fail once or twice, or even repeatedly. But he continues in it and profits by the experience gained. His faculties are also developed and his character is strengthened. All these combine to bring him success in the end.
