To Daffodils

Fair Daffodils, we weep to see
You haste away so soon;
As yet the early-rising sun
Has not attain’d his noon.
Stay, stay
Until the hasting day
Has run
But to the even song;
And, having pray’d together, we
Will go with you along.
We have short time to stay, as you.
We have as short a spring;
As quick a growth to meet decay.
As you, or any thing.
As your hours do, and dry
Away
Like to the summer’s rain;
Or as the pearls of morning’s dew.
Ne’er to be found again.
সুদৃশ্য ড্যাফডিল, আমরা দেখে কাঁদি
তোমরা চলে যাও এত তাড়াতাড়ি;
যেহেতু এখনও সকালে উদীয়মান সূর্য
মধ্যাহ্নে পৌঁছে নি
তাই অবস্থান করো, অবস্থান করো
যতক্ষণ পর্যন্ত না ধাবমান দিবস
চলে যায়
কিন্তু সান্ধ্য প্রার্থনা পর্যন্ত;
এবং একসাথে প্রার্থনা করার পর, আমরা
চলে যাব একই সাথে।
আমাদের তোমার মতো সংক্ষিপ্ত সময় আছে অবস্থান করার,
আমাদের আছে বসন্তের মতো সংক্ষিপ্ত কাল;
যেরূপ কোনো বৃদ্ধি তাড়াতাড়ি মিলিত হয় ক্ষয়ের সাথে,
তোমার অথবা অন্য কিছুর মতো।
আমরা মৃত্যুবরণ করি।
তোমার সময় যেমনটি করে ও শুকায়
ঝরে যায়
গ্রীষ্মের বৃষ্টির মতো করে,
কিংবা যেরূপ প্রভাতের শিশিরের মুক্তাগুলো
কখনও আর যায় না পাওয়া খুঁজে।
The Theme : The central theme of the poem is the ‘transience of human life’. The poet suggests that death is true for all creatures on earth. All the creatures end up with their death. The poet relates transience of human life to the short duration of natural elements including daffodils and summer’s rain.
