There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away.
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears the human soul!
বইয়ের মতো আর কোনো তরী নেই
আমাদের দূরদেশে নিয়ে যেতে
নেই কোনো পথ বইয়ের পাতার মতন
লাফিয়ে চলা কবিতার।
এই ভ্রমণে হত-দরিদ্রও যেতে পারে
কোনো ব্যয়ভার ছাড়াই;
কতটা মিতব্যয়ী এই রথ
যেটা মানব আত্মাকে বহন করে!
The Theme : Books are the best companions in man’s life, and the lyric poem compares the books to some swiftest vehicles. To the poet the book is the fastest frigate in the world. The pace of book has transcended the pace of mythological vehicles like chariot, coursers etc.
