CULTURAL WEEK OBSERVED IN RAJSHAHI GOVT. MOHILA COLLEGE

Maria, RAJSHAHI, April 28 : I am a student of Class XI of Rajshahi Government Mohila College. Every year my college arranges its week-long cultural programme very gorgeously. But the recent cultural programme was something special. The week-long programme we observed, started on 21 February and ended on 28 February every year. The programme begins on 21 February because it is our Language Martyrs Day and also International Mother Language Day. On this very day of 1952, we revolted against the West Pakistanis who wanted to replace Bangla with their mother tongue Urdu. But we protested it with the sacrifice of our lives.

In order to spread that spirit of love towards our mother tongue and motherland, we, the students of our college, decided to organise a week-long cultural programme on The International Mother Language Day 2020. Our aim was to raise that spirit of patriotism with a new zeal. Considering other facilities, we decided to arrange the week-long programme in our college hall room. On the opening ceremony. The Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University was our chief guest. Our Principal presided over the opening ceremony. The opening programme started at 3:20pm with the recitation from the holy Quran. Then our Principal gave the opening speech. At first the song, Amar vaier rokte rangano ekushe February.... was sung by the students. Then came various programmes one after another. They included songs, recitation, dance and short drama. In recited the poem ‘Bangla Amar’ by Kaikobad. The week-long programme was in disciplined and well organised.

It was ended on 28 February. The programme was observed in a befitting manner. On the closing day, after the speech of the chief guest, our Principal delivered ending speech. He thanked every guest and attendant. Thus, the week-long programme ended in a grand success.
