Paragraph - 416

A Caring Friend

A caring friend is one who cares much of one’s feelings and shares one’s joys and sorrows. Rony is such a kind of caring friend to me. He is my friend in need indeed. He comes forward with a hand of aid and assistance in my need. Last year, I did very bad in the first terminal examination. Unfortunately, I got poor marks in English. Obviously, I was disappointed with my progress. My friend could realize my suffering. The whole day he had been with me. He tried to make me understand that I should be more serious about English. He also assured me that he would try his best to help me. He is really a caring friend I have ever had.

Paragraph - 417

My Favourite Sport

Football is my favourite sport. It is arranged between two teams containing eleven players each. The captains of both teams lead their groups. This is, I think, the most exciting and enjoyable game ever played. It runs for an hour and a half with an interval after half of the time is over. Any football tournament arranged between two strong teams can be exciting. The result remains almost unpredictable till the last because any team might win other team scoring a goal within seconds. The team is to maintain a strong unity and discipline among themselves and make a strong attack destroying the defence of the opposite. The referee is to strictly see whether rules and order are maintained by each player. In addition to its health merits, it preaches the lesson of discipline in life. Only a well-disciplined team can win over the other which makes the members of the team more disciplined and punctual.

Paragraph - 418

Our College Common Room

Our college common room is a big hall room. It is on the first floor of the main building. The big room is well-furnished. It has proper ventilation and entrances. There are big tables and chairs arranged nicely in the right corner of the room. There are good arrangements for indoor games in the left corner. We are supplied with all national dailies and weeklies. They have put on stands and also on the tables. There are some rules and regulations. Students have to be tolerant and must develop a spirit of sharing with and caring for each other. All the students do not do the same thing in the common room. Some read newspapers, some participate in games, some of them gossip while some others might discuss different topic among themselves. A common room provides the students with immense facilities which help them to develop their potentials in extra-academic activities.

Paragraph - 419

The First Day at College

I vividly remember the memory of the first day at my college. When I first entered college, I was highly excited and hilarious. Attending a college was something great to me. The big campus with its high buildings seemed to be something new and different. As I entered the first class, I was awfully surprised by the lecture of the teacher. It was our English class. I enjoyed the class very much. The teacher was taking the class thoroughly in English. It proved something unique about my college teacher. The other teachers also made lasting impressions on me. On the day, I attended five classes. We had to frequently change our rooms to attend another class. At 1:30 pm, there came the tiffin break. I went to the canteen and had some light food there. I also got introduced to my classmates. In the college, I liked the administration building most because it looked something impressive and spectacular bearing the past heritage of the college.

A Storm I Faced

One afternoon, in the month of April 2006, I started for home after finished my class. I arrived at the Kaligira gudara ghat to cross the river, Sugandha by boat. The river was calm and quiet. The weather was also fair. I and some other passengers were on a dingi boat. The maji (boatman) started to playing the boat for Kumarkhali. We were about in the middle of the river. Suddenly black clouds hovered in the sky. The weather become dreadful within a moment. Hot air blew for a few seconds and then raised storm furiously like an evil spirit. It was combined with heavy rain, thunder and lighting. We were greatly frightened. We were calling the Almighty Allah for saving us from the terrible storm. The boatman tried to save his boat and us from the rising waves and heavy wind. At the moment, a mountain like great wave pushed our boat on the other bank of the river within a moment. It was so fearful that I lost my conscious. When I regain my consciousness, I found myself in a hospital with my family members, friends and relatives. The rescue ambulance of Bangladesh coastal guard rescued and brought me there. I appreciated and prayed to the Almighty for His help though it destroyed many boat and launches. It was horrifying experience in my life. I will never forget the time and the place of the storm.
