The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Farewell, farewell! but this I tell
To there, thou Wedding Guest!
He prayeth well, who loveth well
Both man and bird and beast
He prayeth well, who loveth best
All things both great and small
For th dear God who loveth us.
He made and loveth all.
যাচ্ছি চলে বিদায়! তবু বলে যাই
শুনে রাখ, বিয়ে বাড়ির অতিথি তোমায়!
প্রার্থনা তার শ্রেয় যে চাইবে ভালোবেসে
নর-নারী, পশু-পাখি অবাধ নির্বিশেষে
প্রার্থনা তার সেরা যে তেমনি ভালোবাসে
বড়-ছোট সবকিছুকে সমান নির্বিশেষে
সকল ভালোবাসার আধার দয়াল খোদার তরে।
সবই তিনি সৃষ্টি করেন অপার প্রেম-ভরে।
The Theme : The central Theme of the poem is ‘compassion and love’. The poem suggests that God is on the side of compassion and love. The poet relates prayer to love. Loving God’s creatures is the best way to love God.
কবিতাটির মূলভাব হচ্ছে ‘সমবেদনা ও ভালোবাসা’। কবিতাটি বলে যে ঈশ্বর সমবেদনা ও ভালোবাসার সাথে রয়েছেন। কবি প্রার্থনাকে ভালোবাসার সাথে তুলনা করেছেন। ঈশ্বরের সৃষ্টিকে ভালোবাসা হচ্ছে ঈশ্বরকে ভালোবাসার উপায়।
