Dear Aleya,
Many thanks for your kind invitation. It would have been a matter of great
pleasure if I had the situation to participate in the marriage ceremony of
Ranju Apu. but I am extremely sorry to inform you that my mother has suddenly
fallen ill. She has been laid up with malaria for some time. Father is out of
situation on his official duty. There is none to look after mother and I have
to do all the household chores as the woman who helps us with household work
is absent for some days. I would definitely have come if my mother had not
fallen ill. Mother is not likely to come round in a week. I cannot leave her
alone. Enjoy yourself. If God so desires, I shall certainly meet you on the
next vacation.
