A Mosque
A mosque is a place of worship for the Muslims. There are thousands of mosques in Bangladesh. Here we can find a mosque in almost every village and locality. A mosque is usually built following Islamic architectural models. Some common architectural characteristics of a mosque are big domes, minarets, arch type doors etc. The external and internal walls of some mosques also bear engraved or embossed calligraphy and designs. In a mosque, Muslims offer prayer collectively five times a day. They also congregate in a mosque for special prayers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha. In s mosque, the imam conducts the prayers. The congregation follows him. A mosque is considered a sacred place to the Muslims.
