Paragraph : Working Women

Working Women

↬ Employment of Women

↬ Women's Role from Past to Present

It is noticed with pleasure that nowadays the women of our society are becoming working women. They are no more dependent on men. Their role is changing gradually. They are no more only mothers and home-makers. They have come out of their houses. They are not timid. They are participating in both official and unofficial work. They are contributing to the national uplift. They are participating in armed forces and trying wholeheartedly to serve the nation. They can conduct business. They are earning money and sharing with the man all the family responsibilities. So, their contribution is no more negligible. But the women who are engaged in service cannot take after their family well. They cannot take care of their children properly. Their children are deprived of motherly love and affection. In many families, girls are still confined in household duties. Their parents think that one day the girl will become a housewife in a house. They think that they are not fit for doing work in an office or somewhere else. They are born to do household chores like cooking, washing up, feeding babies and managing the household. Here the female domestic workers are treated brutally. Women generally work longer hours than men but they are getting less money. This kind of partial treatment should be stopped. Whatever may be the circumstances, the women should be encouraged so that they can take part in the total development of the family as well as the country.

Same composition collected from another book

About fifty percent of our people are women. In the past, the employment scope for our women was very limited, but day by day it is increasing. Earlier, women could not go out of the four walls of their homes and get themselves employed in the society. Their position in the family and in the society was much ignoble. Their jobs were only to work as mothers, wives and house-keepers. They would give birth to and bring up their children. But at present they are playing important roles in all spheres of our country. They are no longer confined within their parents' or husbands' houses. Women are also contributing a lot to their families with their income. They do both their household works and work outside of their houses. They are contributing a lot to our economy and the nation. After receiving higher education and trainings, they are employed as teachers, doctors, nurses, social workers, administrators, pilots, engineers, and so on. Many of our women are employed in our family planning and health sector. They work in rural and urban areas. Not only that a good number of women works in non-traditional jobs like mills, factories. construction works, pharmaceutics and also involves in small scale trade and business. The lion's share of the foreign currency in Bangladesh comes from ready-made garments industries. But these industries are mainly dependent on women.. 90 percent of the garment workers are women. However, there are still some barriers to their employment as well as self-employment sectors. There are negligence towards them, low pay for many of them and, insecurity etc. many of them and, insecurity etc. As time goes by, the scopes for women employment and their contribution are increasing. Our government and other concerned bodies should see to all of their employment-related problems and solve them.
