Times Report-

Mushrafi, Staff Reporter, DHAKA, March 25 : 26th March is the Independence Day of Bangladesh. The day is observed with due solemnity all over the country. We do various prestigious things to commemorate this auspicious day. The ceremony of this day began with the singing of the national anthem and hoisting of the national flag.

This day our great national leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman declared independence of our motherland. He called upon the people of the country to resist the occupied Pak army with whatever they had. The people of the country fought the enemy and made Bangladesh free.

In keeping the age-old tradition, the Independence Day parade and march past are held in National Parade Square at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. The Army, the Navy, the Air Force and other non-military groups and organizations, would perform there. Freedom fighters are invited to the Bangabhaban and they are paid due respect and homage. Special dishes are served in prisons, orphanages and hospitals. Different socio-cultural organizations and political parties draw up elaborate programmes to celebrate the day.

The Independence day procession is the main attraction of the day. A large number of people attend the programme. Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television telecast the programme live. National dailies bring out special supplements on the occasion. Shilpakala Academy, Liberation War Museum and Bangladesh National Museum, Jatiya Press Club, Bulbul Lalitakala Academy, organize cultural functions on the occasion.
