My Favourite Poet

Or, Kazi Nazrul Islam

Kazi Nazrul Islam is my favourite poet. He is the national poet of Bangladesh. He is primarily known as a rebel poet to all of us. He is favourite with me for a number of reasons. First, he is the poet of common humanity. He speaks for the down-trodden and the oppressed people. Second, his writings deal with oppression and injustice of the poor people by the oppressor. Then I find much interest in his poetry when I go through the rebellious tone against all ills and evils. Besides, Nazrul is the poet of youth of life. His poetry is marked by a note of patriotism which instils in me a love for my homeland. Agnibina, Bisher Banshi, Sarbahara, Bidrohi, etc. are some of his famous poems. Of them ‘Bidrohi’ is the most appealing of all. I feel highly inspired by his writing. He has a tremendous influence in shaping my belief and philosophy in life. This noble poet was born in 1899 at Churulia, a village in the district of Bardawn in West Bengal. A great poet of Bengali literature, Nazrul Islam is very popular with all literature lovers.

A Visit to my Own Primary School

The village primary school in which I received my primary education is dear to me. Recently, I went there on a visit. The purpose of my visit was to seek information about the progress of education of my younger brother who is currently studying there. My intimate friend Rahim who is also my classmate accompanied me. First, we went directly to the headmaster’s room where the teachers were holding a review meeting about the performance of the students in the annual examination. I was really glad to see the concern of the teachers about the welfare of the students. I noticed a great change in the attitude and behaviour of the teachers. They welcomed us cordially and informed us of the brilliant performance of our successors. We found that some of our senior teachers have gone on retirement and a number of young teachers mostly female have joined the school. The young and new teachers are more modern, tolerant and assertive in nature. They are taking the pains to improve the quality of teaching in the school. I felt highly glad and satisfied to see the reverberation and enthusiasm of the new teachers in performing duties. The annual progress report of the students gave me a profound sense of satisfaction that the school was going on well.

Paragraph - 408

My Childhood Playmates

We need to play all kinds of games and sports. There is a proverb “Man cannot live alone.” So, we need to keep company. From this saying, I would like to say that we also (the young boys and girls) cannot live alone. We need playmates to play with them. I still remember some of my childhood playmates. They are Sumon, Rajon, Mohan and Tapu. When we read in class VII we were usually played football and kabadi in every afternoon among with others. We were very closed friends. We never quarrelled each other. We loved each other. They were very helpful to me. I passed my boyhood with them very friendly. Now, I am staying very far from them. I don’t know where are they at present. But they are still in my heart. I’ll never forget them. I’ll remember them forever. Mansur, Belal, Helal, Rafiq, Javed, Sumon, Jony are my playmates at present. We are studying in the same college and same class. They are also very helpful to me. We play and share our views and opinions together. We help each other in making notes outside the playground.

A Science Fair

A fair is a kind of annual or occasional gathering. People from all walks of life gather here for acquiring knowledge, enjoyments and to buy things. Recently, I visited a science fair held at Notre Dame College, Dhaka. I was accompanied by my sister Lucky and Sumi. I feel happy to describe the experience of my visit to such an excellent science fair. The college was decorated magnificently. Many students of different colleges like Ideal School & College, Dhaka College, Dhaka City College and Dhaka Commerce College took part in the fair and displayed their various projects. I observed some amazing discoveries and inventions of the little scientists. I found ‘Production of Electricity’, ‘Automatic Fire Control’, ‘Signal of Catching Thief’, small refrigerator, and so on. I was surprised to see the project of reject tube light running. It was a project of enlightening the invalid tube light with minimum cost. Besides these, there were so many experiments on different important issues. Actually, it was a national science fair and people from different places came to visit the fair. Minister of Science and Technology and the local MP also visited the fair. It was really a remarkable visit with great educative values. I have experienced a lot from this visit and hope that the little scientists of Bangladesh will be the great ones in course of time.
