Health and Wealth

We squander health in search of wealth;
We scheme and toll, and save,
Then squander wealth in search of health;
And all we get is the grave;
We live and boast of what we own;
We die … and only get a stone.
আমরা শরীর নষ্ট করি সম্পদের খোঁজে
আমরা পরিকল্পনা করি, পরিশ্রম করি আর করি সঞ্চয়;

The Theme : The main theme of the poem is the ‘transience of health and wealth’. The poet suggests that both health and wealth are temporary. The poet also suggests that our permanent abode is our grave. So, we should not spoil our health for wealth or vice versa. Rather, we should do something humane that will bring us heavenly happiness.
