My Favourite TV Channel

At present, we can enjoy various TV channels through satellite. Of these, the Discovery Channel is my favourite channel. This TV channel is very interesting and attractive. I think both young and old get pleasure from this channel. When I begin to watch this TV channel, I forget everything in practical life. The introducer narrates everything is the most appropriate style. He turns our attention to the unknown and mysterious world of history and animal. The sea-view is excellent. I think it attracts the attention of all kinds of viewers. I eagerly wait for the next programmes. The presenter tries his best to present a programme most attractively. These programmes help to develop our knowledge. It also refreshes our mind. For these reasons the ‘Discovery Channel’ is my favourite TV channel.

Paragraph - 252

Moral Erosion

Moral erosion has now banished simple life and developed ideas from Bangladesh. It is becoming extreme day by day. By independence war of 1971, we have achieved the best thing – freedom. But at the same time, we lost the invaluable thing – morality. Our countrymen now prefer riches but not education and honour. Human character has been destroyed violently. By hook or by crook each and everyone wants to become rich. Thus society is being destroyed. Ershad Shikdar is the greatest example of modern moral erosion. Terrorism, murder, hijacking, black money, child and female trafficking, acid throwing, unfair means in exams, leakage of questions, drug-business, toll-extortion, adulteration of medicine and food, etc. have become daily affairs. None can protest. A peculiar and illegal competition is going on among people. In literature and culture, moral erosion is evident also. They misled the young generation. Independence has widened human demands. Democratic culture has not been grown up. Lack of modesty and respect towards others are evident. But this cannot be continued. The situation has to be changed. If we are united against all criminal activities, all the barriers on the way of development must be removed. We hope that the young generation will win all adversities. The nation waits for that better future. Moral regeneration must be brought about at any cost without further delay.

Paragraph - 253

Mass Education

or, Literacy Campaign

To educate the illiterate mass is called Mass Education. This programme aims at giving knowledge of letters to the illiterate people. Its mains purpose is to make them aware and responsible citizens capable of reading, writing and doing necessary calculations which are very much needed in practical life. Illiterate people do not know what is right and what is wrong and are not conscious of their rights and duties. So, to make responsible citizens mass education is necessary. Without mass education, we are unable to control the population explosion. In order to develop our country in all respects, mass education is a must. To remove this illiteracy steps should be taken by the government. Opening night schools in every village should be made compulsory. The poor people should be supplied with all the items which are necessary for learning. For the purpose of spreading education among the masses, all of us have to come forward and work unitedly in collaboration with the government.

Paragraph - 254

Modesty

Modesty is one of the best human qualities. A person is known by his behaviour and if a person is modest in his behaviour, he is liked by all and is respected everywhere. A modest person talks to people with a smiling face. A modest person always tries to please the person to whom he talks. The proverb goes, “Good manners cost nothing but bring many things.” In fact, good manners mean nothing but modesty. If a man is modest he can succeed in every sphere of his life. If a student is modest all the teachers like him, if a service holder is modest he is liked by his colleagues and bosses. If a businessman is modest he liked by his customers. Therefore, we see that success in every sphere of life largely depends on modesty. In most of the religions, a great emphasis has been given on modesty. Modesty makes a person patient and controls his anger which is a great enemy. As modesty is a great virtue we should all cultivate this virtue in order to achieve success in life.

Paragraph - 255

My Favourite Songs

My favourite songs are the songs of the past. I am fond of the songs of the late fifties and early sixties. The songs sung by Manna Dey, Talat Mahmud, Satinath are my top favourite. I find life in them. Whenever I turn on my cassette-player with these songs, I discover that I am not in the mortal world. I feel like moving to the world of oblivion. I drink the life of songs wholeheartedly. My heart movies and sways with the melody and rhythm of the songs. They often make me emotional and thoughtful. I remain speechless and still in my own world. They are always pleasant to me. In fact, these songs have got mixed up with my blood. Whenever I am in a vacant or pensive mood I escape into the world of my favourite songs.
