The Little Boy Found
William Blake (1757 – 1827)
The little boy lost in the lonely fen,
Led by the wand ring light.
Began to cry, but God ever night,
Appeared like his father in white.
He kissed the child and by the hand led
And to his mother brought,
Who in sorrow pale, thro’ the lonely dale
Her little weeping boy sought.
(ছোট্ট বালকটি হারিয়ে গিয়েছিল এক নির্জন বিলে,
বিক্ষিপ্ত আলোর পিছে ছুটতে ছুটতে
সে কাঁদতে শুরু করল, কিন্তু স্রষ্টা, চির সমীপবর্তী,
তার বাবার মতো হাজির হলেন, শ্বেত শুভ্র।
তিনি শিশুটিকে চুম্বন করলেন, আর হাত ধরে
নিয়ে চললেন তার মার কাছে
যে ছিল কষ্টে বিবর্ণ, নির্জন উপত্যকার মাঝে,
তার ক্রন্দনরত ছোট্ট ছেলেটিকে খুঁজতে খুঁজতে।
The Theme : In the poem the little boy lost in the lonely fen stands for innocence. And God as a dutiful father took the boy to his right place. So, the poem reflects the restoration of innocence and the benevolence of God.
