AMAN PRODUCTION IN 10 DISTRICTS EXCEEDS TARGET
Ruksana Amin, JESSORE, January 5 : Production of Aman paddy in the country’s ten southwestern districts has exceeded the target in the current season, reports UNB.
These districts are : Jhenidah, Narail, Magura, Kushtia, Jessore, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Satkhira, Bagerhat and Khulan.
Sources said, Agricultural Extension Department had set a target to bring 6.8 lakh hectares of land under Aman cultivation in these ten districts. But more than 7 lakh hectares of land were brought under Aman cultivation. Some 26 lakh tonnes (metric ton) of paddy was produced against the target of 23.80 lakh tonnes (metric ton), sources said.
