Paragraph : Presidential and Parliamentary Forms of Government

Presidential and Parliamentary Forms of Government

Now-a-days, both the presidential and the parliamentary forms of government are prevailing (বিরাজমান হওয়া) in many countries of the world. Both the types of government have merits and demerits. Power lies mainly in the hands of many people in a parliamentary form of government. In the presidential form of government the country is run according to the will and decision of a single person. On the other hand, in the parliamentary form of government the country is run according to the joint wills and decisions of a group of persons. In the parliamentary form of government if the citizens are illiterate, they do not know how to perform their duties properly and they fail to elect honest and sincere representatives for the parliament. As a result, an ideal government cannot be formed. A dishonest and wicked government is a great threat to the peaceful environment of the country. But in the presidential form of government if the president is ideal, honest and sincere, the citizens of the country enjoy lots of facilities. Thus we see that both the presidential and the parliamentary forms of government have some merits and demerits. People prefer parliamentary form of government to presidential form of government.
